Fat Buddy has been doing really well and is sporting a gorgeous coat of fur these days. He was completely bald all last spring and summer. He's feeling so chipper that he's devoting extra time to his feats of badness.
Fat Buddy loves coffee. Preferably with cream and two sugars. I've had some visitors to the farm recently and while entertaining over cups of java, my visitors have sat dumbstruck as I left the room. Fat Buddy, nonchalantly, waits for me to leave then goes to my coffee cup to slurp down any dregs in my cup.
I come back and my guest says, "Ummm. Your dog just drank your coffee."
I pick up the cup and look forlornly into it.
"Yes." I say. "He does that. He likes coffee."
Fat Buddy sits, unabashed, licking his chops. "Mmmm, dat was some goood coffee," he seems to say, happy now to recline on his bed and…

Classic Fat Buddy. He has found a partner in crime in Max. Max has discovered the secret to climbing up on the kitchen counters. He throws things down for Fat Buddy. If he doesn't, Fat Buddy snitches on him. In fact, Mr. Max is locked up in his crate at this moment after Fat Buddy's annoying outraged yipping brought me in to find Max perched up there having a go at some apples.
Fat Buddy scored an entire jar of peanut butter, chewed the lid off and defiantly sat on his bed, daring me to take it away from him. I had to trade a baked potato for it.

Max has absolutely no boundaries or manners. As far as he's concerned...everything is his. We are working on this.
Last night I brought my dessert...a fresh sliced peach with lemon juice and a sprinkle of sugar...in to the computer room to enjoy. Max wasted no time in jumping up on the couch next to the computer and going for my treat.
No, no! Max!

Max still has enough puppy in him to be destructive.
This was my favorite stainless steel strainer. I've been using it to strain milk. This was a very solid strainer and I'm amazed he isn't missing a few teeth after this.
Guess he was trying to gnaw that last bit of milk off of it.
Bad boy.

Of course...this scene wouldn't be complete without four cocker spaniels and a labrador underfoot throughout it all....
Fat Buddy LOVES strawberries....

My guys are really bad sometimes and Shadow is not above partaking in the spoils of a successful raid. This was taken following the rifling of the grocery bags in the jeep. They scored a bag of self-rising flour.

This is Shadow, obsessed by the baby chicks set up in the make-shift brooder. Shadow will sit there watching those chicks until I drag him out of there and close the door.

Shadow is really fastidious and needs less frequent baths than my other messy dogs. But as soon as he is bathed and clipped and perfumed...he runs, hellbent for leather, to the frogpond for a swim then rolls in the lovely sand. Here he is after just such a foray, expecting a treat in his food bowl for such behavior.

This actually goes with the rest of the first swim series, but it's my favorite shot of the day. Each time Aegis comes to shore with a stick or a ball he shakes out on the nearest person. I know all wet dogs do that for some reason, but he really seems deliberate about it.
